Celebrate Clay History Passport - New App Announced by Clay County Tourism

On behalf of our Historical Archives Center staff and our awesome partners at Clay County Tourism, we are proud to share information about the new Celebrate Clay History Passport.

This is an interactive tour inviting everyone to discover the stories of 25 historic locations in Clay County. The “passport” is found on the new Explore Clay Mobile App, linkable through QR code and found through your cell phone’s app store.  The App is a virtual game similar to “Pokémon Go” and works based on geo-position/location. At each location visitors can check-in on their smart phones once within an addresses’ set radius. Visit as many or as few sites as you like or aim for visiting 15 or more sites to earn cool prizes provided by Clay County Tourism that can be picked up at our Archives Center (21 Gratio Place in Old Jail, M-F, 8am-5pm).

This is a group effort between our Archives (content contributors), Clay County District Schools, and Clay County Tourism to encourage visitors and residents of all ages to explore Clay County and learn about how history was made here – the people, places, and events.  We appreciate your support as we celebrate Clay County History Month (May) and promote fun, educational things to do with our families and friends all summer long – and beyond!

While on the Explore Clay App be sure to check out the other cool tours, event listings, and even more helpful content. Thank you.
