An important new 6-county partnership and new website addressing property fraud awareness in NE Florida launched today.
Clerks of Court Team Up Against Property and Mortgage Fraud – Media Release 2022
The new website, protectyourfloridaproperty.com, is a streamlined page from which anyone can register to receive text or email alerts if a recording (paperwork regarding a deed, mortgage, etc) takes place involving property they own in as many as six counties, including Clay. If the recording is fraudulent, the legitimate property owner can immediately notify local law enforcement and can take action to stop the fraud in its tracks.
We are thankful for the partnership with the other Clerks of Court (the official recorders of official documents in each county) in our region and also the ongoing great partnerships with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Property Appraiser’s Office, too. It is common for people to own properties in multiple counties…..i.e., main home in one and rental property, vacation home or business property in another. This new website provides convenient links to six county property fraud alert registration sites from one easy-to-use page.
