TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On Wednesday of last week, Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC) honored several Clerks and Clerk staff with awards for exceptional service. The awards were presented by 2025-2026 FCCC President and Hernando County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Doug Chorvat, Jr., during the association’s annual summer conference.

“These awards recognize the outstanding dedication, professionalism and leadership demonstrated by Clerks and Clerk staff across the state,” said 2025-2026 FCCC President and Hernando County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Doug Chorvat Jr., “I am proud to recognize their hard work, commitment and contributions to their communities and our profession.”

One such award announced during this diving themed event (for context) was the “Hookah Dive Team Member Award”.  Clay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller Tara S. Green was recognized along with clerks/comptrollers from Charlotte, Manatee, Flagler, Marion, Monroe, Lake, Martin, Bay, Madison, and Miami-Dade counties. This uniquely-named award highlights the ongoing, long-term efforts of this group of veteran public servants.

In the scuba diving industry, hookah (or surface-supplied air diving) refers to a system where a diver’s breathing air is supplied by a compressor at the surface rather than from a heavy tank strapped to their back. It allows divers to stay underwater for extended periods because it is much lighter and less restrictive.
Also notable at this year’s conference were special presentations made by Clerks from our office on two unique topics.  Civil Clerk Hannah Trowell presented information on how adherence to best practices helped our office reform the successful handling of Guardianship cases in our county.  Business Analytics Manager Emily Horan was part of an expert panel who explained how automation of data collection and reporting can greatly improve accuracy and efficiency across Clerk’s offices. They did a great job representing Clay County at this large educational event.
Congratulations to Clerk/Comptroller Green and to all the hard working personnel who serve citizens year round across the State of Florida.
