Art in the Courthouse New Exhibit - Pieces of Our Past - Historic Windows & Photos

We are excited to announce a new exhibit now installed on the 4th Floor for the enjoyment of all courthouse visitors and employees.

AITC New Exhibit -Pieces of Our Past – VIA and Archives Historic Frames

Pieces of Our Past is a truly unique display – a one of a kind, in fact.  An excellent example of how community partnerships benefit us all, this collection features full-size windows rescued from a local historic Green Cove Springs (GCS) home combined with historic photos of GCS sites and people from our Historical Archives Division photo library, and the talents of Village Improvement Association (VIA) members donating time and talent to the effort….not to mention our Facilities Support staff preparing and very carefully installing these cool pieces.

Come check it out for yourselves….now through April on the main courthouse 4th Floor. Each window is displayed along with captions (provided by Archives) for the included photos.

***These handmade items are so unique and impressive that we’ve already had inquiries about them being available for purchase.  We are told there will be an online auction conducted by the VIA following this exhibit, so stay tuned for more news on that (May-June likely).  The VIA is a local not-for-profit woman’s club here in Green Cove Springs with whom we are proud to partner and be members of, too.

Art in the Courthouse is a community engagement program initiated by Clerk of Court and Comptroller Tara S. Green now in its fourth year on the 4th Floor of the Clay County Courthouse (825 North Orange Ave, GCS). The small gallery area is open to the public for viewing during normal courthouse hours.  Each year, our office features six (6) community art group exhibits on average.

We kicked off this year’s exhibit schedule again with artwork from the Art Guild of Orange Park – thank you!  Following the current Pieces of Our Past exhibit, we look forward to hosting the First Coast Quilters Guild (USA 250th themed quilts) followed by the Clay County District Schools Student Art Contest winners, and more!
