Subject Files

Subject files are a primary reason visitors come to the Clay County Archives. This resource is a set of vertical files containing any conceivable form of document related to Clay County. Subject files include clippings, family histories, military records, essays and more.

During the last several years, volunteers refined the arrangement so that it now covers more than 1,000 subjects. Subject files are also available at the Fleming Island Library, Putnam County Main Library in Palatka, the Florida Memories project, and the Georgia Names File, which indexes items from Georgia.

In addition to our up-to-date catalog, the “County Archives for Clay” is a WPA-era publication describing the Clerk’s Office and Clay County government operations at that time.

 

Artifacts

While our operation is not considered a museum, the Clay County Archives does retain many artifacts that relate to our county’s history. These have been arranged into attractive displays both in the Archives Center, the 1890 Historic Courthouse, and in the main Clay County Courthouse.

Statewide Case Access for Florida Bar Attorneys Announced

Great news!  The Florida Courts E-Filing Authority, in partnership with Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers, just launched an optional subscription service called CaseAccess.  Available through the E-Filing Portal, legal professionals can search case information from all 67 Florida counties on one platform.  To subscribe, attorneys should visit the Florida Courts E-Filing Authority homepage and select the “Enter the Portal” button. Sign in to your active E-Filing Portal account, then select CaseAccess Subscription from the command ribbon to manage your subscription settings.  If you do not already have an account, you must create one before subscribing.  ***CaseAccess is a research tool and is not the official court record.  Attorneys should continue to consult the appropriate Clerk of Court for the official and most current record, document, or case status.
