Henry Clay – County Namesake

What’s in a name, you ask?  Plenty!

  • Henry Clay Sr. was an American attorney and statesman who represented Kentucky in both the Senate and House.
  • He was the seventh House Speaker and the ninth Secretary of State.
  • He received electoral votes for president in the 1824, 1832, and 1844 presidential elections.
  • Almost every state in our nation has a county named in recognition of Clay.

Annual Unclaimed Funds List Published

Each year the office of Clay County Clerk of Court Tara S. Green publishes a list of unclaimed checks that represent funds not collected/cashed during the prior year.  Please take a moment to review the list as funds not claimed by September 1, 2026, are forfeited per FSS 116.21. If you see your name or the name of your business on the list, please contact the Clerk’s Office by emailing our Finance Department at ClerkFinanceDepartment@clayclerk.com.
