Exhibit Hours and Important Info

Please note:  The Clay County History Museum (wing of building attached to the 1890 Historic Courthouse) is not maintained or staffed by Clerk’s Office, Archives, or Teen Court staff.  Historical Society volunteers man the museum whenever it is open to the public or when special events are held. Except for holiday periods, exhibits are open Sunday (2 PM – 5 PM). Historical Society volunteers provide staffing and are available for scheduled tours at other times. If requested for additional information, call (904)284-9644.

Our Archives Specialist, a Clay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office member, is on-site during most normal weekday business hours and is the main point of contact once you arrive. If you are making a special trip or driving a long distance, please call first to make sure our staff will be there to welcome you. The Archives office is inside the Old County Jail, which sits at the intersection of Gratio Place and Idlewild Avenue (SR 16).

Parking

Regular parking and handicapped parking spaces are available from the Archives/Old Jail entrance. Additional parking is available between the Old Jail and the storage building and across Walnut Street next to the Clay County School Board building.
